RE: Saturn Cafe / new veg restaurants

Hi folks

Emily, thanks for bringing up the tuna and to Mel for adding the update that they've switched to a meatless TUNO product. Yes, for many years "tuna" was Saturn Cafe's only non-veg item on the menu and it was wonderful to see them replace it with TUNO (which is actually vegan, I believe).

 

I was so focused on garlic fries when I wrote the previous email that I forgot to mention two more things I wanted to share:

 

1) also of note on their menu -- they use some organic ingredients and their 100% trans fat free oil is converted to biodiesel fuel.2) staff mentioned that they are trying to find a location in SAN FRANCISCO

 

So, let's see, Flacos is looking for a place to open a restaurant, the article yesterday mentioned Blossoming Lotus coming to Mountain View, we heard Herbivore is going to the East Bay (!) ... oh, it's great to be a veg in the Bay Area! FYI, we usually post business news updates to the Guide blog, which typically get summarized in our monthly newsletter.

There are currently no healthy veggie options (nor anywhere to linger over a vegan milkshake) for us herbivorous night owls in SF, and it would be great to see Saturn Cafe fill that gap.
