Guest guest
EBAA Animals & Society Film Series Wednesday, June 14 Time: 7:30 PM Location: Humanist Hall 390 27th Street, Oakland (www.humanisthall.net) Film This Week: Winged Migration " The air routes taken by migrating birds have existed for thousands of years. Birds themselves have ruled the skies for 80 million years. It is because life becomes momentarily difficult where they breed that the birds leave to find better living conditions elsewhere. This beautiful film is dedicated to birds and their long-distance flights according to the seasons. The film’s cinematographers fly alongside the birds through 40 countries and seven continents. To guide themselves, these creatures of mystery and poetry have discovered astronomical bearings, observing the sun and stars; they perceive the magnetic field of the earth; they have an internal clock which gives them the time and the season; they instinctively know, and learn from their elders, the terms of their voyages and the skyways to reach them; they know how to cope with the weather in an uninterrupted dialogue with the wind. This glorious film of staggering beauty is produced and directed by France’s Jacques Perrin. " ---------- Christine Morrissey East Bay Animal Advocates P.O.
