Guest guest
Hello good people! I’m going to be working as a camp director at a residential camp based at SF State for international students this summer, and we’re getting ready to hire our staff. We’re hiring for several different positions: we’re looking for one more live-in female counselor; 5 ESL teachers; and 10-15 high-school students to be mentors to the campers. Finally, I am also looking for guest teachers to lead workshops on various fun things—hip-hop dance, spoken word, self-defense, DIY stuff, any sort of crafts; I’m totally open to ideas you might have. We’re still working out the budget for this, but we could definitely pay you for your time. While the camp itself is not inherently social-justice-based, I am incorporating a lot of really awesome elements, including a Precita Eyes mural tour and workshop, a restoration with Save the Bay, a trip to an animal sanctuary (instead of the zoo), and lots of great teambuilding activities. I’d really love to hire a staff that is motivated by social justice and creating community rather than people who just think it would be a fun summer job (which it will!), so I’m opening this up to activists I know before we post on Craigslist. See job descriptions below. Please email me if you’re interested in leading a workshop or, if you’re interested in one of the positions below, please send a cover letter (can be informal) and resume and let me know what position you’re interested in. We will begin interviewing the week of 6/12 and will make hiring decisions soon after, so please contact me soon so we can move forward quickly! Please forward to people you know who might be interested, especially high-school students who you feel would be good role models and have important things to share.
