Hi folks

I got a comment from someone that they thought the book club is full - well, it's not! At least not the veg/AR portion. Let me explain ... the BAVeg Book Club is reading general fiction (8 books) and nonfiction veg/AR books (4 books). The fiction side is being organized by Lisa, and they're organized more like a traditional book club with a core group attending each discussion. I believe their group is full or may have one opening.

For the non-fiction side, I've never attended a book club or participated in one until now. I just wanted to read some/more books about veg/AR and I thought a book club would give me an opportunity to do that, while meeting others who would enjoy reading the books and discussing the ideas & information contained within. So reading veg/AR books four times a year was incorporated into the Compassionate Living program (which has a monthly program related to vegetarianism, animal rights, or advocacy).

For the veg/AR books, if we want to have a core group that meets everytime, that's fine. Or if people just want to read one book, that's fine too. So, just a FYI to clear-up any confusion.

These are the next 2 veg/AR books scheduled for this year. If you'd like to attend, or find out more info, please use the links below.

7/22 - A Pig Who Sang to the Moon

Hi,

Yes, Tammy is correct. There is officially one space left in the general books section of the BAVeg Book Club.

There are currently 7 of us. We're reading our 4th novel: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which we'll be discussing at our next meeting on 6/18.

Our fifth meeting, with a book yet to be determined, will be held on 7/23. We've been meeting at veg*n restaurants and discussing our books while enjoying delicious vegan food together.

You can get more information at:

http://www.bayareaveg.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=49 & sid=63a9a9dbe66c950c8565ae86ffdae982

Anyway, we've been having fun at the meetings and you're welcome to join us for a meeting or all meetings as space is available. So, if you love both reading and vegan food and would like to meet and get to know more vegans/vegetarians, feel free to join us.

Take care. Lisa
