Guest guest
Hello friends of animals, Pleasurable Kingdom is the first book to focus on new evidence that animals, like humans, enjoy themselves. It debunks the popular perception that life for most is a continuous, grim struggle for survival. Instead it suggests that creatures from birds to bats to baboons may feel good thanks to play, sex, touch, food, anticipation, comfort, aesthetics, and more. We are lucky enough to have the author on our staff at PCRM; Jonathan Balcombe, PhD is an Animal Behavior Research Scientist who has written numerous scientific papers and magazine articles on, among other things, bat communication, turtle nesting, and bird breeding. He will be giving a couple of talks in the SF/Bay Area. May 10th 7pm Book Passage Corte Madera 51 Tamal Vista 415-927-0690 www.bookpassage.com Jonathan will be reading from his book. May 11th 7pm Sponsored by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society at: The Goldman Institute on Aging 3600 Geary Blvd at Palm 415-750-3550 The event on May 11 will be a lecture and a book signing by Dr. Balcombe on his research and findings about animal pleasure. Please come and support Jonathan, SFVS, and PCRM for this groundbreaking and exciting talk! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. See you there!
