That company is part owned by Nestle. Now Nestle is about to buy out

Linda McCartney's range of vegetarian foods:

Hathagirl/Denise:

Of the products your email refers to, what makes them unacceptable to the

" true believers " because they have become part of a conglomerate? Is your

position that you/we should boycott all products of conglomerates as a

matter of principle or do you think those familiar products that we use will

become adulterated or subjected to mass production processing techniques

which will make them unsuitable for vegans or vegetarians? Is your objection

political/economic - that all companies producing products for vegans and

environmentalists should be cottage industries with limited production/

distribution capability? There is a part of me that longs for " the good old

days " before supermarkets and styrofoam. Does a general boycott run the risk

of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face? You and I probably have

similar principles [i've been a vegetarian/vegan for 56 yrears]. What

tactics are going to be most effective in making desirable changes in the

marketplace?

Hi Tony,

This is not that much worse than its current owner Heinz, although I believe

the products are actually being distributed via the Hain-Celestial Group

portfolio of brands. I remember seeing the McCartney foods people at the

Natural Products Expo show last year and asking them why none of the

products they were showcasing were vegan. Not one person at their booth

knew what I meant by vegan and when I explained that it meant no eggs or

cheese
