Guest guest
WCSV is participating in the annual AAA Battery Roundup Program which enables people to drop off old car batteries at designated sites at no charge to you. This program runs from April 12 - 22. Each battery collected is worth $2 to our organization. Last year we received $2,000! We're hoping to double that amount this year. Please help us achieve our goal and help keep the environment clean at the same time. For more information go to http://www.batteryroundup.com/. When you drop your battery make sure to tell them it is for the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. Please help spread the word to those you know about this program. There are posters, flyers and leaflets here at the Wildlife Center for anyone interested in dropping them around town. Drop off sites: * SOUTH BAY Gilroy Marx Towing 5757 Obata Way 408-847-8697 Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 Saturday 8:00-12:00 * Milpitas Pro-Star Towing 355 Sango Court (btwn Tradezone & Capitol Ave.) 408-942-3330 Mon-Fri 9:00-5:30 Saturday 9:00-3:00 * Mountain View Fortes Auto-Body-Frame 365 Villa Street 650-967-7711 Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 Saturday 8:00-12:00 * San Jose/Campbell Dick's Automotive Service 888 Camden Avenue 408-374-8890 Mon-Fri 8:00-4:00 * Santa Clara Car Care Plus 2615 Keystone Ave @ Saratoga 408-247-5405, Option 3 Mon-Sat 8:00-5:00 Safety Tips: wear gloves and safety glasses when handling batteries, keep them upright and place batteries in a cardboard box or plastic container when transporting them for recycling. If the battery case is cracked or leaking, be especially careful to choose a leak-proof container. Do not smoke or expose batteries to an open flame, and make certain they will not shift and tip over in a moving vehicle.
