Guest guest
Better late than never... Bay Area Vegetarians have discovered a WONDERFUL location for tabling and leafletting: Lytton Plaza in Palo Alto, which is on the main drag of University Avenue. According to the city itself, this is a free- speech zone and no permits are required, as long as you don't block the sidewalk or sell anything for money. There's a lot of foot- , bike-, and auto-traffic, and plenty of benches to sit on. Tami and Nate set up a table with a laptop running a PETA video, and had tons of literature to hand out, and even crackers and cheez dip samples! Chuck, Clyde, and Faune were extraordinary leafletters. I brought a bunch more literature courtesy of BAV. We talked about revisiting this site again; our gatherings could be impromptu, since we don't need permits. Mike and I had also demo'ed at the Palo Alto KFC earlier that day, and 2 potential customers literally stopped in their tracks and turned away from KFC's doorstep as they read our leaflet! Thanks to Mike's generosity, I am going to look into laminating the PETA signs. --Candace
