Fishing Hurts stickers on the Pacifica Pier

GUILT AT THE FISHING PIER — Those who go out on the Pacifica Pier to do

a little fishing often come home with dinner. Not always, of course,

but they wouldn't be out there if the fish never bit anything. But,

there are those who don't agree with the concept of fishing. Little

stickers have been placed on various signs at the pier indicating that

" fishing hurts. " The stickers point people to the www.fishinghurts.com

website, which is associated with PETA (People for the Ethical

Treatment of Animals) and is a cornucopia of information about how bad

fishing is. Here's a sample: " Imagine reaching for an apple on a tree

and having your hand suddenly impaled by a metal hook that drags you —

the whole weight of your body pulling on that one hand — out of the air

and into an atmosphere in which you cannot breathe. This is what fish

experience when they are hooked for sport.' " Then again, there's

nothing yummier than fresh mackeral or salmon or crabs caught from the

Pacifica Pier.

 

 

Sure was fun. I think I used about 40 stickers.
