Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on veggie and animal rights goings-on here at Stanford. The Stanford Daily published two polar opposite pieces on animals this past week. On Thursday, they published a terrific editorial piece advocating more transparency and accountability for animals used in research. But on Friday, they published a nasty, sarcastic, and at times racist diatribe against vegetarianism. The vivisection piece, authored by the Editorial Board, represents the position of the paper itself, while the veg piece is just the inane rant of a single smarmy staff writer. The animal research article, " Blowing the Whistle on Animal Experimentation " : http://daily.stanford.edu/tempo?page=content & id=19646 & repository=0001_article# The anti-veg article, " The Fight Against Vegetarianism " : http://daily.stanford.edu/tempo?page=content & id=19670 & repository=0001_article The Daily takes letters to the editor through its website: http://www.stanforddaily.com/tempo?page=lettertoeditor You can also personally write the author of the anti-veg article, Barrett Winston Sheridan (this may be the yuppiest name I've ever heard) to politely let him know what you think: barretts. If you write regarding vegetarianism, please do not criticize the Daily directly, but rather criticize Mr. Sheridan, or, even better, focus on the animals. The Daily's advocacy of more transparency for Stanford animal research is a brave step of immense importance to our campaign and we do not want to alienate them. Thanks, Matthew
