Guest guest
I realize this is a veg*n site but I'm at my wits end with my cat and I figured some of you would be great at offering help. I feel like I got into the mess myself, but 2 years ago I rescued her as a kitten from a shelter in Sacramento. She was 4 months old at the time and was scheduled for early euthanasia because she had come in as a relinquished animal, the owner said she was peeing outside the litterbox on clothes and such. I figured she deserved a chance, she is the sweetest most outgoing and lovable cat you'll ever meet. She greets me at the door and licks my face when she can get to it. At the shelter SHE was the cat who was reaching through the bars of the cage with her tiny feet. Anyway, I got her home and everything was fine until I moved. During the past 2 years, her old habits have come back and she'll find any little corner to pee in, including closets, dresser drawers left open, under desks, and on piles of clothes. I keep her litterbox clean and do all I can but I've come to the end of my rope. When she is able to go inside and outside as she pleases, the peeing in the house ceases almost entirely. The problem is that I am scared to death of coming home one day and seeing her in the middle of the road. I'd sooner give her up and let her live outdoors as someone else's cat. That sounds mean, but I'd rather be in denial thinking she is happy somewhere else than worry every single day whether she is safe from cars in my neighborhood. I always swore my cats would be indoor cats, and it seems in this case I don't have a choice. Does anyone have any advice in this situation? I know that in a perfect world my cat would have her own little corner always untouched, but I am young and live in apartments, move about once a year, and don't always have a great area for her to roam around in outside. Thanks! Kim
Guest guest
I hope this problem can be resolved and that your cat can continue to live indoors where she is safe. You are right, this is a veg*n/animal rights site, rather than a cat care site. Although some on the list may have great experience dealing with cat behavior, there are also many other resources out there where you can find help. I used Google to search for " care of cats " and many, many sites came up. This one had an article on your problem right in the middle of its home page. http://www.thecatsite.com/ Karen , " greenanimal01 " <greenanimal01 wrote: I realize this is a veg*n site but I'm at my wits end with my cat...she'll find any little corner to pee in...
