Guest guest
This was sent to me. I may buy it just to see what the other side has to say, to know what we're up against. Despite what Hollywood and the liberal media say, it's hunters, not environmentalists, who pay for conservation programs in America, reduce crop damage, and save endangered species. Yet hunters are often portrayed as Bambi-killing rednecks...until now! In the first book of its kind, The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to Hunting defends millions of misunderstood hunters while clearly demonstrating America's vital need for this important sport. Intrepid hunter and pro-hunting activist Frank Miniter shatters myth after myth by detailing the concrete benefits that hunting provides all of us—even explaining how hunters save lives by stopping deer from killing drivers and geese from taking down airplanes. Engaging in real shoe-leather reporting, Miniter hunkers down with suburban deer sharpshooters, rides mules with federally paid cougar hunters, and probes anti-hunters to unearth the surprising—until now unreported—politically incorrect truth about hunting. In this book you will find: How a well-intentioned policy of "live and let live" with Florida alligators resulted in human deaths Why you're more likely to be attacked by a bear in an area where hunting is forbidden, such as a national park Why non-lethal alternatives to hunting don't work to control animal populations Why even vegetarians depend on hunting for their dinner (especially those who demand organic or locally grown food) How hunters are wildlife's best defenders—far more effective than big-budget "green" groups How deer cause more human deaths each year than sharks, cougars, bears, and alligators combined Why hunting is statistically safer for kids than football, bicycling, and tennis If you love hunting, you need to arm yourself with The Politically Incorrect Guide™ to Hunting, so that the next time you encounter an anti-hunter, you'll be equipped to shoot down politically correct myths and defend this great American sport against all attacks. Guest guest
Frank Miniter doesn't shatter any myths...however, he DOES continue to regurgitate the standard lies spewed forth for decades by the hunting faction. The biological reality is that, if left alone, animal species regulate themselves. These factors are based mainly on food supplies and weather--conditions which trigger 'hormonal' responses in the females of non-human species...these responses determine whether the offspring is male or female; how many babies a given animal will have, or if indeed they will have a successful pregnancy at all. Add in disease and natural die-offs, and if hunting were never undertaken, the environment would continue in perfect harmony. DIS-HARMONY--overpopulation--is CAUSED BY HUNTING not the reverse. Species will adapt to fill a VOID. These 'voids' are caused by Fish and Wildlife policies which allow [encourage] hunters to decimate natural predators, i.e., cougars, coyotes, wolves, etc. A standard practice of wildlife "managers" throughout the world. Obviously once predators are removed, if food supplies are plentiful and weather conditions favorable, them you've created an overpopulation problem. However, if conditions are NOT favorable, then you have created a massive environmental disaster resulting in the starvation of animals targeted by such "management" methods. As for hunters being "caring" environmentalists...that's sheer blasphemy. That is like saying you're pro-animal because you support slaughterhouses. Perpetuating the existence of animals for your own benefit at the expense of their pain, suffering and death does not make you an environmentalist...only a malevolent opportunist. EVERY tax paying citizen gives their fair share toward maintaining our National Parks system. Hunters contribute with revenues generated by hunting licenses and other hunting related usage fees. 50% of federally funded wildlife "refuges" regularly allow trapping/hunting within them. The average taxpayer supports these refuges, which in turn SUBSIDIZES hunters...not the other way around. If most hunters had to purchase the acreage and maintain such wildlife, few would have the where-with-all to do it. So from that standpoint, without taxpayer funding, these wildlife refuges would not exist. BrennanBOYCOTT CHINA!
