Without egg addling the population is expected to be significantly higher. “The data will be used as baseline information to measure the success of the various goose management techniques being used and to help determine what other, if any measures need to be taken,” says Ian Wilson, Urban Forestry Supervisor. “It’s difficult to get specific numbers as geese seek cover under vegetation to offset this a correction factor was used to obtain estimates closer to the true population.” Canadian Wildlife Services has also issued the City of Kelowna Parks Division a permit to cull up to 50 geese if required until December 31, 2007.
