Foot-and-mouth is rarely a fatal disease in animals, so the obvious

question is why does paranoia break out every time there's an outbreak

of the disease in the UK?

 

The answer, of course, is about protecting the meat industry. You

rarely hear, in news reports, anything about the poor animals, but a

helluva lot about farmers scared of losing money.
