Kansas Rodeo Fears "Big Bad" Videocameras

Dear Friends,

SHARK investigators have just finished over a week of filming and documenting at two simultaneous rodeo events known for their horrible record of abuse and humane violations: the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo (CFD) and the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR).

However, this email is not about that.

We do have a lot of important rodeo-damaging information to share with our supporters about CFD and NHSFR, but that will have to wait until all our investigators are back to home base.

The immediate nature of this email is the knee-shaking cowardice of the rodeo thugs in Dodge City, Kansas. This morning, SHARK investigators were kicked out of the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo all-day steer roping event. Even though the investigators were peacefully observing the event like any other spectator while filming, rodeo organizers called the local police, and the investigators were forced out.

What is the Dodge City rodeo and law enforcement so scared of? That the people outside of their tight-knit group of abusers might see the truth about a contest as cruel as steer roping? Yes!

Before being kicked out, SHARK cameras caught the first steer of the early morning to be injured in what is sure to be a day full of trauma and abuse for every victim that was chased down and slammed on the ground.

Learn more about the harsh realities of steer roping here.

Steer roping is so cruel, it isn't even allowed in most states. In steer roping, also called "steer busting", contestants whip a 500-600 lb. victim over 180 degrees and slam the animals to the ground with so much speed and force you can hardly imagine how any steer survives. The victim is then dragged to insure it is practically knocked out, so the cruel contestant can get a score, and hopefully, win money.

Apparently the rodeo folks in Dodge City aren't as worried about hiding the yellow stripe on their backs as they are about shrouding their cruelty. For the Dodge City Police to be at the beck and call of the abusers and deny access to this supposedly public event to SHARK personnel is all the more unconscionable.

We are asking our supporters to call Dodge City out for the cruelty, collusion, and cowardice shown today by the rodeo and the city that is supporting it. Even Cheyenne, Wyoming and their infamous Frontier Days Rodeo didn't kick out SHARK's cameras this year--even after being exposed for the last two years.

Please contact Dodge City's Mayor and let him and the town know that across the country and the globe people are watching the demise and downfall of the rodeo industry and Dodge City would be best served by not circling their wagons around this corrupt group.
