Guest guest
NRDC Help win protections for imperiled Loon We have a brief window of opportunity right now to help save one of America's rarest and most vulnerable Arctic birds. Under legal pressure from NRDC, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has agreed to consider proposing the yellow-billed loon for protection under the Endangered Species Act. Researchers say that as few as 3,700 of these birds survive today in Alaska and more than 75 percent of those live in our Western Arctic Reserve BioGem. Despite a powerful outcry from BioGems Defenders and scores of other activists, the Bush administration has already leased large expanses of the loon's fragile tundra habitat for destructive oil and gas drilling. Please speak out now to give these extraordinary birds a fighting chance. » Tell the Bush administration to support federal protections for the yellow-billed loon. http://www.savebiogems.org/westernarctic/takeaction
