By RON SYLVESTER Facing pressures from a growing population, tighter air pollution controls, global warming and high gas prices, Wichita city officials are looking at a new bus system they hope will lure more people into using public transit and take cars off the road.Hardly anyone in Wichita uses public transit, but transportation authorities say the proposed system that has worked in other cities -- some smaller than Wichita -- could save households thousands of dollars a year.It's called Bus Rapid Transit.
