Help for very caring independent rescuer

 

 

 

 

 

Dear Friends,

 

I sent out an email a couple of weeks ago with a “Wish List” for the Best Friends LA programs. I would like to explain why we listed dog and cat food. Below are a couple of photos and information about a friend of ours. She's 79 years old and has been rescuing dogs and cats in LA, mostly Echo Park & Eagle Rock, for

 

the last 30 years. She lives in a small studio with 3 of her dogs, and however many she is fostering at a particular time. She only has a part-time clerical job, as well as her social security, to get by on. According to Lisa Young (Rescue Train), Liz feeds about 50-75 feral cats daily, as well as rescues and finds homes for stray and abused dogs on a weekly basis.

 

 

 

She’s also on the Wall of Heroes at the Best Friends Sanctuary Welcome Center. We would like to help her with her dog and cat food needs by collecting bags of food and distributing them to her from our LA Office. If you would like to donate a bag or two of dog and/or cat food, please bring them with you to the June 3rd Super Adoption. You can drop them off at the Volunteer Booth when you check in. If you are unable to work this event, but will still like to donate food, please contact Jessica Cliver at (323)934-6655.
