On Friday, the City Council unanimously voted 12-0 to direct the City Attorney to draft a mandatory spay/neuter ordinance for the City of Los Angeles. The ordinance will be consistent with

AB 1634, and will be drafted and likely approved regardless of the future of AB 1634. We should all send a quick note of thanks (email is ok) to the City Councilmembers, especially Councilman Alarcon (originally against AB 1634), for their quick action and decisive support for spaying and neutering in Los Angeles. If you have not yet faxed letters and called Appropriations Committee members in Sacramento, it is imperative you do so on Monday. The hearing is Wednesday. Also, if you have not yet signed up for a space on the bus, it is not too late.
