Anthony Hopkins' Recipe to Save WhalesGreenpeace

The African Congo. The very name conjures up images of mystique, beauty, and

wonder.

The Congo is a vast rainforest, second in size only to the Amazon and it

supports the lives of 40 million people. Like all large intact forests it's

crucially important for regulating local and global climate.

The " Green Heart of Africa " , it's home to endangered species like the

gorilla, forest elephant, chimpanzee, and the bonobo. But this once vast

forest is rapidly being destroyed by a timber industry that is causing

environmental and social chaos within the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

More than 37 million acres of rainforest have been granted to the logging

industry - that's the size of Illinois - despite a moratorium that was

passed 2002.

The World Bank, the largest donor to the DRC, has the power to stop the

devastation, but needs to change their tactics urgently.

TAKE ACTION!

Tell Treasury Secretary Paulson to use his influence on the World Bank to

prevent the destruction of this incredible rainforest.

Global Warming pollution must be reduced, and now. But some corporations

want to keep on polluting - at no cost. Every company should be treated

equally, and it's time for Congress to act. Take Action Tell Congress that

the sky belongs to all of us.
