Global warming is a serious threat to California, the United

States, and the world. An increase in temperature of just 2.2

degrees Fahrenheit from today's levels could eventually mean

widespread flooding of coastal areas in California and around

the globe. It will also mean more frequent extreme weather

conditions like hurricanes, heat waves, and droughts, evidence

of which we already see.

 

I support the Sanders/Boxer bill because, of the several

alternative global warming bills in the Senate, none go as far

as the Sanders/Boxer legislation. It addresses the global

warming challenge head-on, and is the only bill that will truly

work economy-wide.

 

The number of citizen co-sponsors will affect the number of

Senators who support the Sanders/Boxer bill over the other

measures. By becoming citizen co-sponsors, we are helping to

provide the needed momentum to get more Senate sponsors for the

Sanders/Boxer bill. And that will keep this whole issue moving

forward.
