Guest guest
National Wildlife Federation Last Chance--Sign the Petition for a Clean Energy Future What will Congress do to stop global warming in their First 100 Hours? Last week I sent you a link to a National Wildlife Federation petition asking the new Congress to cut oil subsidies, invest in renewable energy and address global warming in the First 100 Hours. I wanted to let you know that this legislation now has a name--the Clean Energy Act of 2007 (H.R. 6)--and that a vote is scheduled for this Thursday, January 18th. As the CRITICAL first vote on global warming in 2007, we need the strongest show of support we've ever had. You still have time to sign the petition in support of a clean energy future for America: http://www.first100.org We now have more than 22,000 signatures--but we are doubling our efforts to double the number signatures. The names we collect will be delivered direct to Congress to show them how many Americans are behind this Clean Energy Act. By promoting clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency, H.R. 6 will help reduce global warming pollution and break our dangerous oil addiction. It will also help create jobs, reduce air pollution and save Americans billions on their energy bills. The bill would repeal $13 billion in subsidies benefiting the same oil companies who are earning record profits. Please sign the petition and forward it to your friends to help us reach our goal of 50,000 signatures! http://www.first100.org The time is now: the new Congress is moving quickly and we cannot let them forget about global warming--the number one threat to wildlife and America's wild places. There are still a number of undecided representatives--make sure they hear your voice. Thank you, Adam Kolton Senior Director of Congressional and Federal Affairs National Wildlife Federation alerts
