Be a Wolf Myth-Buster

As the federal government prepares to release its harmful plan to eliminate

important protections for wolves in the Northern Rockies, some anti-wolf

zealots are chomping at the bit to spread misinformation about these

misunderstood animals. Are wolves vicious killing machines with no purpose?

Are they leaving sportsmen with fewer elk to hunt? Are they a threat to

people?

Help us debunk these and other myths about our wolves -- and spread the word

about these magnificent creatures.

Send an eCard to friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and bust some key

myths about wolves!

Action of the Month

Polar Bears in Peril

Polar bears, one of America's most iconic and beloved animals, have had a

hard time lately. Rising temperatures and industrial pollution are driving

them to the brink of extinction. Now, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is

taking action. On December 27th, federal officials announced a proposal to

list polar bears as " threatened " under the Endangered Species Act, offering

a crucial lifeline to these beleaguered bears.

Help save our polar bears! Send a message to support increased protections

for our vanishing polar bears.

Florida Manatee

Moving slowly though waterways and grazing on vegetation, manatees have

earned the nickname " sea cows. " These gentle giants -- nearly 10 feet long

and weighing on average between 800 and 1,200 pounds -- have no natural

enemies. But that doesn't mean they face no danger. Humans cause the most

problems for the manatee, with boat collisions being the biggest threat --

accounting for 21 percent of manatee deaths in Florida last year.

Cooling off Your Heating Bill -- and Emissions!

Heating and cooling your home can consume up to 45 percent of your utility

bill -- more than any other energy consuming system in your home. It can

also contribute to global warming that threatens polar bears and other

wildlife.

Visit the Department of Energy's Energy Savers web site for some hot tips to

help you lower your bills this winter -- and reduce your global warming

emissions.
