Please pass this message on and let me know what you think. There is an event happening at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, called the Greenscare Day of Solidarity, on Saturday, December 9 from 10-3, in Atwater Kent. It will be conference of environmentalists from the Worcester, Boston, Providence, and Portland Areas. In addition to providing a networking opportunity, the event is being held in order "to raise awareness about the Green Scare and show solidarity with those targeted by it." We are looking for speakers and panel members for discussions. Please read more. >From Greenscare.org <http://greenscare.org/>: "The term Green Scare refers to the Red Scares of the early twentieth century, made famous by the McCarthy hearings and the House Un-American Activities Committee. The Green Scare demonstrates a similar systematic criminalization of dissent as the U.S. government is using all its tactics (e.g., grand juries, specialized legislation, paid agents provocateurs) to target the radical environmental and animal rights movements, those who publicly support them, and others who struggle for a healthy, diverse eco-system and the rights of animals." The event will include several speakers and panel discussions, as well as breakout sessions. The suggested topics include: the current climate for activists, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, specific cases, and ways we can promote justice. We also hope to hear talk about the philosophy of non-violence and political activity in a repressive state. If you or anyone you know would be interested in attending and/or speaking at this event, please let me know ASAP. If you have any suggestions or contacts, any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time. I hope to hear from some of you soon.
