Guest guest
PLEASE CROSS POST!! The next protest at Petland in Fairfax City, Virginia, will be: Sunday, November 5, 2006, 1:00-2:30 PM. Directions below. If the weather is iffy, call 703-642-8367 a couple of hours before the protest to make sure it’s still on. If you have not already done so, please FAX or e-mail your current U.S. representative to tell him or her to OPPOSE AETA, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, which passed UNANIMOUSLY in the Senate. This shockingly discriminatory bill, if made into law, would have a chilling effect on ALL those who work to protect animals. For more information, please visit www.noaeta.com and check it again after the elections. We plan to do some leafletting at the George Mason University Free Speech Zone. This would be on a WEEKDAY around 1 PM. Let us know if you’d like to help. Two people reported seeing a sick puppy at the Fairfax Petland within the past week. It is legal to sell sick animals, but you are supposed to let the buyer know what’s wrong with them. As we know from the e-mails we receive every week, pet stores are notorious for making light of illnesses—most often, telling customers a puppy has a “cold” which proves, shortly after the puppy is bought, to be pneumonia. By then, the customer loves their suffering puppy and pays the big vet bills not covered by the so-called “warranty.” Thanks very much to the group from Mary Washington University and everybody else who came to last week’s protest! Reaction from the public is always better when we have a good turnout. Directions: From the Beltway, get off at Exit 52, Route 236 in Annandale, going WEST toward Fairfax. Go several miles. The first mall on the right (near sign for Einstein Bagels) is Pickett Shopping Center. Turn right at the traffic light onto Pickett Road. We'll be on the public sidewalk at the next traffic light, right side of the road, near the wine store. To prevent Petland from calling the police about trespassers, please pass us and park at the next mall over, on the left side of Pickett Road, near McDonald's. If you don't see us near the wine store, walk over toward the larger intersection of Route 236 and Pickett. The street address of Petland is 9404 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031. www.petstorecruelty.org all4theanimals Patricia Breen www.petstorecruelty.org Check out the New Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.
