Guest guest
Only 56 butterfly species now remain in the UK - mainly down to man destroying their habitat. The Butterfly Conservation (http://www.butterfly-conservation.org) charity blames modern farming methods, urban sprawl, and a lack of woodland management. The counties which have lost the most species are Hertfordshire (17), Bedfordshire, Suffolk, and Lincolnshire (15 each).
