Guest guest
Permission to Cross-Post Nationwide! For more information on the Great Bunny Rescue, volunteer and adoption opportunities, please visit the Best Friends Network at http://network.bestfriends.org Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are needed immediately. If you can pass the word or if you can spare some time… Please contact jill.rescue or call 435-644-3965 ex 4488. Volunteers are also needed to help with day to day care of the rabbits at the ranch and to help build fences and do general handyman work. To volunteer go online http://network.bestfriends.org , click on the bunny picture and the volunteer tab. Or you can email Tiffani at tiffanih Even if you can’t volunteer onsite in Reno, there are MANY ways individuals can help with supplies… we desperately need Oxbow rabbit pellets, grass hay, and vegetables for the bunnies as well as fleece and rabbit toys. The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary receives thousands of calls and emails every month to help the homeless and abandoned animals in our country. Every single one is unique in its own special way. But last summer there was one particular, out of the ordinary call that came in from a rescuer in Nevada...one which involved rabbits. This rescue would involve approximately 800+ rabbits and when the exact count was underway, it was closer to 1000 rabbits and growing. The Best Friends Bunny House at the sanctuary certainly does not have the room for all these rabbits. To top it off, post Hurricane Katrina efforts have been well underway and all of the Best Friends staff and energies at the time were focused on the monumental task of saving thousands of homeless and starving Katrina animals. As the eye-opening details continued to unfold, Best Friends eventually made the decision to provide immediate help for these helpless rabbits. Fast forward a few months: Best Friends has secured an ideal 65 acre piece of land in Lemmon Valley approximately fifteen miles from the heart of Reno, Nevada. From sun up to sun down Best Friends dedicated animal lovers and staff members have been laying the foundation for a more humane world for the innocent rabbits. It has not been easy as some of the hundreds of rabbits were sick, some in need of medical help for self-inflicted wounds and some are babies without mothers. The hundreds of rabbits have needs that must be addressed immediately. We only have 7 employees on the property and work is seriously underway around the clock. But, as you can imagine, we need serious help.
