The Northern bottle nose whale, which enchanted Londoners and animal

lovers worldwide, sadly died at 1900 GMT on Saturday, when on a barge

wildlife workers were using to take the 18ft mammal into the Thames

Estuary - in an attempt to free it in deeper waters.
