Guest guest
Tell The Chlorine CEOs: It's Time to Be Mercury-Free! Dear Paulo Daniel, It's time for the mercury-cell chlorine plants across the country to clean up their act! Last week, our field organizers conducted a drive across the country to send postcards to the CEOs of the six companies that still use mercury in their chlorine production, telling them just that. Then yesterday they did a call-in day, placing hundreds of phone calls to the companies directly. Now it's your turn! We're asking you to use our easy online form to send an e-mail to these CEOs, demanding that they switch to mercury-free technology. Let your voice be heard! Take Action TODAY: Send an e-mail to the CEOs! As you know, mercury-based chlorine plants are one of the largest sources of mercury contamination in our country, releasing more mercury into the air per plant than the average power plant. Yet, while 90% of the industry has recognized this fact and switched to mercury-free technology -- a change that can actually save the company money in the long run -- eight obstinate plants remain, continuing to use mercury technology despite the fact that it is outdated, unnecessary, and extremely dangerous to our health and environment. It is up to us to let these remaining plants know that their outdated technology is the cause of completely preventable mercury pollution and that action must be taken to stop mercury contamination by switching to mercury-free technology.Simply fill out our online form and you'll send an e-mail to each of the six CEOs, urging them to switch their plants to mercury-free technology. It's as simple as that! And because you're sending your letter online, there isn't even any postage :-)With enough e-mails flooding the mailboxes of the companies that operate the remaining mercury-cell chlorine plants, our message will be clear: that mercury contamination from chlorine plants must end! Take Action TODAY: Send an e-mail to the CEOs! As always, we thank you for your constant support and action in fighting for our health and the health of our oceans. Don't hesitate to contact us with questions and stay tuned for more actions to come!
