Guest guest
Join Greenpeace and Explorers in the Arctic Beginning in May, Arctic explorers Lonnie Dupre and Eric Larsen will brave shifting sea ice and frigid stretches of open-ocean on the first unassisted summer crossing of the Arctic Ocean. Partnering with Greenpeace’s Project Thin Ice, Lonnie and Eric will document the real and dramatic impacts of global warming. While you may not be able to join Eric and Lonnie there are steps you can take to fight global warming like telling President Bush to keep up with Russia and the rest of the world by cutting the U.S.’ global warming pollution at www.projectthinice.org/contest. When you sign up for updates and to join the fight to put an end to global warming you could win: · A trip on a Greenpeace ship tour · A trip for two to the Amazon Rainforest · Whitewater rafting in Costa Rica, or · A year’s supply of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream The North Pole is melting away. Up to twenty percent of the Arctic sea-ice that once covered the Arctic Ocean in the summer months has melted in recent decades due to global warming. Every spring and summer polar bears and their young cubs rely on stable sea-ice to roam out over the ocean in search of food that are key to their survival. Scientists fear that unless we take bold steps to stop global warming now the polar bear could face extinction by mid-century. Take action now at www.projectthinice.org/contest.
