Human extinction? One opinion/alternative

Hello All,

I read what " jayasimha N.G. " had to say concerning the human

overpopulation crisis and I have some input to this.

I wanted to bring to light the fact that many couples in the US are

either considering or have decided not to reproduce. I do not know

what this status is for other couples (of child bearing age)

globally, but this trend seems to be growing in the United States.

I have decided many years ago not to raise children and if possible,

I'd much rather adopt a child (not an infant, but an older child). I

know of many other couples who have decided, for numerous reasons, to

either adopt, or not have children altogether. My reasonings were due

to human overpopulation, and the rise in orphaned children. My

concerns for both issues is so great that I decided not only can I

help to make a difference in global human overpopulation (by making a

decision and discussing it with others) but I can also make a

difference in the life of an orphaned child who may not have the

option of having a stable or happy life otherwise.

I want to bring attention to other couples, world wide, who are

deciding to have children to please reconsider alternatives. I

absolutely am not advocating, nor do I want to discuss at this time

abortion issues, but rather I am discussing choosing not to reproduce.

I also understand for many the religious and social implications

concerning choosing against bearing children (starting a family). But

we are all at a stage where we can no longer ignore the fact: we are

dangerously overpopulated, we are distroying the environment in many

forms-one major contribution is habitat distruction due to either

housing, farming, industry, and other human related causes due to

human overpopulation. I realize that I have left out many other

environmental, human, and animal rights subjects-I simply want to

stay on the subject of Human overpopulation and one possible solution.

All that I would like to say to everyone reading this is to please

consider the possibility of not reproducing, consider adoption (if

possible) as an alternative, and if you already have children, please

consider not having more. We have to consider the future of sucessive

generations, as well as the future of all life on this planet.

Please add your opinions on this subject, and pass this around to

others. This is a subject I do not hear much about, that definitely

needs more attention. Again, I don't want to get off the subject-I am

just discussing the volentary choice not to reproduce.
