I am completely against hunters/hunting and any other "human" methods of torturing/killing animals.

BUT:

Against Bush? In a heartbeat!!!! The president and vice president are hunter's, without any of the so called ethic's and morals of the hunting world! VP Cheney participated in a canned hunt! Bush used to take midnight horse rides with his friends, to shoot frogs on his ranch in Texas. It was "entertainment" for the idiots!!!!

Check out the links below. If you read nothing else, this first article by the HSUS and the second on the ABC NEWS.com site are must reads (***.)

***Cheney's Canned Kill, and Other Hunting Excesses of the Bush Administration

The private excesses of Cheney are bad enough, and worthy of The HSUS's rebuke. But it's the public policy excesses that are of even greater concern to me. Cheney's hunting trip strikes me as emblematic of the Bush Administration's callousness towards the earth's animals. The administration's most outrageous proposal is its plan to allow trophy hunters to shoot endangered species in other countries and import the trophies and hides into the United States. The administration first floated the proposal a few months ago, with formal proposals subsequently published in the Federal Register, and President Bush is expected to make a final decision soon on the plan, which originated with his U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The plan is transparent on its face. It's not aimed to help species, but to aid special interests who want to profit from the exploitation of wildlife. No group is more centrally involved in this miserable plan than Safari Club International, the world's leading trophy hunting organization and an entity with close ties to the Bush Administration.

***Hunting: A Big Game

Questions About Elite Hunting Club Member's Ties to Smithsonian

Behring is a top member of a little known but well-connected group called the Safari Club International, an organization committed to wildlife "conservation" — and to hunters' rights. Among the Safari Club's 42,000 members are many well-known figures, including Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and former President Bush, an honorary lifetime member.

But for all its powerful connections, some say the Safari Club's system of awards and honors laid out in its trophy guidebooks has fostered a kind of trophy madness among some of its wealthiest members.

A hunting guide at a Safari Club convention called Behring "a real Indiana Jones." With more than 125 kills recorded in the official trophy record book, he is also "the largest donor to the Safari Club International," says Pacelle. "They're racing against one another to kill more animals, rarer animals and bigger animals so they can be first in the trophy guidebook … and say, 'I shot one that's bigger than yours,'" says Pacelle, who adds that the Safari Club has in fact offered trophies for killing animals that are considered endangered or threatened.

"They want to kill the biggest and the rarest of the animals because that allows them to ascend higher in the fraternity of big-time game hunters," he says.

In addition, federal authorities say the quest for such trophies has become so great that it helps to drive an illegal black market.

For example, undercover videotape — as part of a two-year federal investigation of a ring that arranges for rare, exotic animals to be killed for trophies — obtained by PrimeTime Thursday captured a rare animal locked in the back of a trailer and then shot and killed — so its trophy head and hide would be undamaged by the rigors of a hunt, according to authorities. The skinners waited while the animal slowly died.

GOP image-groomers are working overtime to show voters the tender, caring side of Vice President Cheney. But feathered creatures still might want to keep their distance.

We told you in December how Cheney killed an estimated 70 ring-necked pheasants in a single morning at a hunt club in Pennsylvania. According to reports, Cheney and a nine-man entourage, which included NFL Hall of Famer Roger Staubach, bagged 417 of the 500 birds released in a "canned hunt."

Bush Hunts, Fishes For Votes

Check out the pic's of the president on this site!

The president leaned over to tell Tomke how much he enjoys hunting on the Texas Gulf Coast, where green-headed mallards and pintails flock every autumn. Tomke, in turn, reminded Bush that 22,000 hunters were among the 133,000 Americans who filed protests to a Bush administration wetlands plan that could have cleared the way for developers to bulldoze 23 million acres of fragile wetlands. Four days later, the administration announced the president had personally decided "not to issue a rule that could reduce" federal wetlands protection, including smaller parcels important to wildlife called "isolated" wetlands.

Would you vote for a murder of animals and humans (our soldiers are dying in Iraq) with no ethics, conscience, or even the ability to know right from wrong??? A person who favors big business and special interest groups (hunters, fisherman, NRA, etc) over the rest of society???

Vote your conscience.

I truly hope people do vote their conscience, then we will be free of the suppression of the current administration!
