A West El Paso woman recently purchased a Scottish Terrier puppy from Bibi's Grooming and Puppy Store. However, the puppy lived for only two weeks. The owner of this new puppy - who asked not to be identified -thought her dog was in good health the day she bought it. But further inspection by the veterinarian told a different story. According to Doctor Freund of the Coronado Animal Clinic, the puppy had a low body temperature, low blood sugar, and was in a state of shock. Eventually the puppy came down with diarrhea, vomiting, and blood in the feces. Dr. Freund said, " If your dog shows signs of parvo, you immediately seek veterinary attention. If treated it early and aggressively, we have a really good success rate of getting these dogs well. If they come in too bad of condition - for instance they're dehydrated or in shock - then we're into a much more serious problem and some of those dogs will actually die. " Doctor Freund also says if you buy a puppy, you should check for written verification that the puppy did receive shots for parvo. The owner of Bibi's Grooming and Puppy Store did not want to speak to us on camera, but he does tell us that an inspection by the Health Department did not find any problems with his shop.
