Guest guest
The Alliance For Animals and the Madison Coalition for Animal Rights in Madison, Wisconsin, will be hosting a conference entitled, " Primate Vivisection: What the American Society of Primatologists Doesn't Want You to Know " on June 11, from 9 – 5 at the Pyle Center in downtown Madison. This conference and accompanying protests and activities will occur during the American Society of Primatologists (ASP) annual meeting, being held in Madison from June 8 – 11. The ASP conference features a large number of researchers involved in primate vivisection, and in other types of research on captive primates. Ours will be a " counter conference " that will include the following experts speaking on the science, politics, and ethics of using nonhuman primates in research: Crystal Miller-Spiegel Senior Policy Analyst American Anti-Vivisection Society Michael Budkie Executive Director Stop Animal Exploitation Now Jeremy Beckham, President Utah Primate Freedom Project Matt Rossell, Director Northwest In Defense of Animals Whether you are a veteran activist or just learning about these issues, this is a great opportunity to learn more about vivisection. There will also be a demonstration against the University of Wisconsin's use of animals in " research " on Saturday, June 12 at noon on the UW Library Mall. Following the demonstration Michael Budkie will host an activist training session where you can learn how to stop vivisection and network with other activists. For more information and directions, see the Alliance For Animals' website at www.allanimals.org or call 608-257-6333.
