It amazes me that people claim animal cruelty as their culture. Please let Berni of thinkspain.com know, that claiming bullfights as part of Spanish culture, is not something to be proud of! Thanks!

thinkspain @ thinkspain.com (remove 2 spaces)HopBlossom Sent from the Internet (Details) Dear Mr/Ms HopkinsThank you for contacting www.ThinkSpain.com.Bullfighting is obviously a very contraversial subject but nonetheless part of Spanish culture and hence is featured on ThinkSpain.com. We do have several bullfighting features and news articles on the site that the may find of interest - seehttp://www.thinkspain.com/search/index.asp?txtcadena=bull & x=16 & y=13 Thank you again for your

comments and we look forward to seeing you again soon on www.ThinkSpain.com Kind regardsBerniwww.ThinkSpain.com - Friday, April 09, 2004 7:20 PM[thinkspain.com] Contact: Barcelona & Bullfighting---General info request from ThinkSpain.com ---09/04/2004 19:20Name: S HopkinsE-mail: HopBlossomSubject: Barcelona & BullfightingI think that you should revise your website. Barcelona, in its wisdom, is the first city to ban the evil and cruel spectacle of bullfighting. Let's hope it sets a precedent and other cities follow quickly. This disgusting form of entertainment, where bulls are stabbed to death and horses suffer terribly, should have

been consigned to history. The sadists who dress upin their fancy costumes will now have to get themselves a proper job. I hope that when these vile men (and some women matadors) die they will be confronted by the animals they tortured in the name of entertainment. Spain is in the Stone Age regarding animal welfare. The Roman Catholic churchencourages and supports the abuse of animals in that backward country.-

A friend has sent me a copy of the letter you sent to her about the promotion of bullfighting on your site ... www.ThinkSpain.com and I moved to speak out on this issue !

Yes, the slow torture and killing of animals is of course a very controversial indeed. For many years now, many large tourist companies and airlines have refrained from including this blood sport in their brochures / advertising and it would be nice to see you also follow their good example.

Firstly let me clarify something - THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE PUBLIC IN SPAIN DO NOT SUPPORT OR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BULLFIGHTING ! In fact it is now over 80 percent of the population. Not all ' cultures ' are now acceptable in today's world ! Only 7 percent of the population are involved directly in the ' act ' of bullfighting which includes the breeding farms and the costume makers !

I would suggest that you go to http://www.canadianvoiceforanimals.org/icab_uk.html and http://www.canadianvoiceforanimals.org/icab_2.html to learn the facts about bullfighting and then reconsider your promotion of this barbaric and cruel event you call Spanish Culture. The Spanish have wonderful arts and music not to mention the beautiful beaches ! THE COUNTRY IS FILLED WITH BEAUTY THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE BLOODLETTING OF INNOCENT ANIMALS !

Most importantly, to impress upon our children that these cruel events are acceptable is absolutely criminal in itself ! We need a more compassionate world for all - not to lead them into violent acts against animals which then only progresses on to violence against each other.

Why not give your attention to their real national sport ' FOOTBALL ' ?!

At least it is a sport where willing subjects go against each other !

The only place bullfighting should be is in HISTORY BOOKS !

Very sincerely yours, for a compassionate world
