Good for you! It is pleasing to see people trying to help.

I am the director of BOS UK (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation) and we are concerned with the conservation of the orangutan and its ecosystem in Indonesia. Along with our 13 sister charities around the world, we are the largest primate conservation project in the world. In just 2 of our facilities we care for nearly 500 orangutan orphans, and have already returned hundreds to protected rainforest areas. We support local communities in a bid to get their commitment to forest and orangutan conservation, as well as employ over 100 local people. We manage over one half million hectares of rainforest land and we have replanted thousands of trees.

As may expect, all our efforts can be very costly. We are supported almost entirely by private donations. We are grateful for any donation, no matter how small. In one year, I added up all the donations given to me that were £1 or less, and they totalled more that £1500. That paid for a life-saving operation for a baby orangutan that had been shot.

I hope that you will be able to help us in whatever way you see fit, whether with fundraising or spreading awareness or soliciting gifts in kind.
