Barcelona bans bullfighting - a great day for animal rights

Barcelona has voted to ban bullfighting, being partly influenced by a

massive animal rights anti-bullfighting petition of around a quarter

of a million signatures.

 

This still has to be rubber-stamped by the city's regional authority

of Catalonia, but it looks like the beginning of the end for this

sick ritual - Madrid, please take note.

 

What with the primate lab being scrapped in Cambridge, England -

despite the support of the Government, and Tony Blair (naturally)

these are heady days for animal rights supporters, but there's still

many issues to fight for. Apathy just strengthens the hands of those

who have no compassion for living things.
