Guest guest
Obviously Mr Bankard has received alot of email, thanking him for the article he wrote about Robert Lamano. Since he is very busy, and can't reply to everyone, he wrote this and asked me to circulate it. Good work everyone! Thank you! Rita - Bankard Bob Rita Fazio Wednesday, March 17, 2004 11:42 AM RE: Go to it, Rita! Hi, Rita; I have to admit to being both honored and overwhelmed by the response I've received by simply stating a simple truth. I apologize for not being able to answer each one of you individually; know that the sentiment here is sincere unto each of you. Ghandi once wrote that the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. In a country that claims itself to be the apex of moral enlightenment, the Lamano case - and the way it was adjudicated - says more about the distance we have left to travel more eloquently than any decade's worth of Deacon Blue. But, even in the darkness, there are stars. Each of you, with your outrage and incredulity, have shown that we have the ability to extend our campassion to all of the living world. You are all lights in the darkness. You have thanked me; although I appreciate the praise, I am not so deserving. Many of you are on the front lines of this fight, on a constant basis, and are far more worthy of praise than I. In fact, many of you have the delight to share your lives with an animal companion, a state that I, in the rented Fester Suite apartment, am currently disallowed. I envy you your company, and I honor you in your steadfast defense of those who are defenseless against human depredations. I did nothing more than state what you yourselves would say; I simply stood behind you. I always will. Thank you for your kind words, and know that I will never turn from the fight against injustice, deception, cruelty and inhumanity, on every front I find it. I can not turn away - as I know you can not. But it is my place to thank you. Because your responses have shown me the lights in the darkness again, and restored to me the sure knowledge that one day we will win, and lift humanity higher. Thank you. (I know we've had a short correspondence earlier, Rita, but these words are every bit as much yours. Keep fighting.) - Bob Bankard Rita Fazio, Korea Animal Protection Society (KAPS) International Aid for Korean Animals (IAKA) http://www.koreananimals.org/index.htm Don't turn your back upon their pain, because it's hard to see. They have no other place to turn, They've only you and me.
