Guest guest
I just went back to the poll site, to see how it was doing and found the article below. It seems that no zoo is planning to feed live strays to zoo animals. Knowing about the news business, I would bet that this was cooked up by the editor of this newspaper, to get some publicity. Unbelievable! Please do not write poisoned pen letters to this paper. If we ever need them to help in an animal issue, I get the feeling that they would be obliging. If they start getting nasty, threatening letters about this, they might not be anxious to help. The poll and the article below can be found on; http://escapesanantonio.com/ If your interested in reading some of the reader's comments about this farce, the article below and the comments are at; http://escapesanantonio.com/default.asp?sourceid= & smenu=71 & twindow= & mad= & sdetail=294 & wpage=1 & skeyword= & sidate= & ccat= & restate= & restatus= & reoption= & retype= & repmin= & repmax= & rebed= & rebath= & sal= Poll results 112 to 4 against stupid zoo idea It is not only zoo directors expressing a resounding NO! 112 of you against and 4 nuts for feeding live strays to zoo lions. Tourist attraction? Texas zoos to feed live strays to lions to save money/attract tourists? We don't think so. Larry Nolan 03.MAR.04 Editor Comment: "While this idea gets your bile up, we have not found any evidence that this is seriously contemplated by any zoo keeper in the United States of America. Asia might be another story in another culture. The idea might have come from one of our nutty lawmakers in Austin while at a Sixth Street boozer last week. Those guys need to know that bars have ears and that boozed up elected officials should be cautious about their humor. No need to march on your zoo. It ain't gonna happen in the U.S.A. Execption being the live rats they feed to snakes and a few other animals needing live chow. A reader suggested that we export stray dogs to parts of the world where they are the main meat dish. Another reminds us that in Europe butcher shops, they leave the fur on a rabbit's feet and head so the consumers can be certain that they are not buying a cat!" Calm down folks!" Rita Fazio, Korea Animal Protection Society (KAPS) International Aid for Korean Animals (IAKA) http://www.koreananimals.org/index.htm Don't turn your back upon their pain, because it's hard to see. They have no other place to turn, They've only you and me.
