Guest guest
Everyone please send those letters. Even if you feel that you aren't capable of writing a letter on your own, just a couple of sentences will suffice. Example; Dear Mr. Mayor, I am writing to respectfully ask, that you put an immediate end to the inhumane slaughter of deer in the Metro Parks area. An investigation of the area proves that the claims of damage to the ecosystem are unfounded and the animals are in good health. Eyewitness accounts of the slaughter are heartbreaking to say the least. Please stop this atrocity! Thank your for your time. Sincerely, Your name and address - SharkIntl @ aol.com (remove 2 spaces) Rita Fazio Tuesday, March 02, 2004 3:03 PM Deer Killers! Dear Friends, For the past week, SHARK investigators have been in Akron, Ohio conducting undercover video surveillance on a deer slaughter being conducted by the Metro Parks. "Sharpshooters" working for a company called White Buffalo gunned deer down at sites baited with corn and apples. White Buffalo has been slaughtering deer in various locations around the US, and we felt it was time to find out just how sharp the company's "sharpshooters" were. The video evidence coming out in the first week of effort is very disturbing. Animals not immediately killed by the first shot were left to struggle on the ground. They were then approached, and plastic bags were placed over and tied around their heads, apparently to minimize blood flow on the ground. In at least one case, a still struggling deer was dragged off camera by the head. One can only imagine the additional horror a wild, shot animal experiences when, already gravely wounded, it then has a bag placed over its head which is tightened. At some point during the past 24 hours, Metro Parks rangers discovered a camera, setting off a panicked effort to keep the truth from getting out. The rangers found eight cameras. We were impressed with their effort, but they did not get all of them. More importantly, the damning footage was already safely residing in our trusty Apple computer, with a number of backup tapes safely stored in other locations. Interestingly, our very close-up footage of the Metro Parks deer clearly shows that the animals are in good health, and are not malnourished. Also, the parks appear to be in good shape environmentally, and we find claims of damage to ecosystems to be unfounded. The local Fox television affiliate (Ch. 8) had the story as its lead item Monday night. More coverage is expected on Fox at the 5pm, 6pm and 10pm broadcasts Tuesday night, as well as WKYC Channel 3 at 6pm and 7pm and PAX -Ch. 23 at 6:30pm and 10pm. Please let us know if you live in the Akron/Cleveland area and if you would be able to tape any of these segments for us. It would be greatly appreciated. We are anticipating a news conference in Akron on Thursday, where we will release more footage to the media. We will ask for an investigation into the treatment of the deer, and will press for criminal charges where appropriate. We are also looking for individuals who can attend the press conference in support of SHARK's findings and against the kill. We will update you as to when and where it will take place. Meanwhile, please contact the Akron Mayor and City Council and politely but firmly ask that the deer slaughter, which is scheduled to continue through this week, be immediately halted.
