Hi,

I am an intern with Friends of the Earth. I saw your list while

searching for groups that might find the alert I am passing below

interesting. Please have a look, help if you can, and join Jerry's

email list to get more information in the future. Get the word out,

post Jerry's website.

Thanks,

HELP PROTECT FARMERS AND THE FOOD SUPPLY: SAVE SUSPECT GMO CORN FOR

SCIENCE

www.SaveJerrysCorn.com shows you how!

BACKGROUND:

It's an unsolved mystery whether genetically engineered corn, a new

form of toxic mold, or some combination of the two is the cause of

severe reproductive failure in pigs once raised by lifelong Iowa

farmer Jerry Rosman. In the meantime, Jerry wants to make sure that

this corn doesn't hurt other farmers, is kept out of our food, and is

saved for science.

In August 2002, a senior USDA researcher stated that, " One possible

cause of this problem may be the presence of an unanticipated,

biologically active, chemical compound within the corn. " Other

scientists have warned that genetic engineering could produce novel

toxins as a side effect, suggesting Jerry's situation could be the

first to demonstrate this concern.

Researchers have expressed interest in conducting studies to solve

this mystery. Unfortunately, the USDA has not been willing to buy

the corn needed for these studies, and after losing his hog

operation, Jerry can't afford to hold onto the corn much longer.

TAKE ACTION!

If you care about the fate of farmers, the safety of our food supply

and want to help solve this problem before it strikes again, join the

growing number of people who are buying a few bushels of Jerry's

corn. You can send a check to him at:

The spot price of corn in early February was $2.25. As of February

18, people have donated $307 toward the $25,000 needed to buy the

corn.
