Guest guest
===== A message from the 'makahwhaling' discussion list ===== FROM WASHINGTON CITIZENS' COASTAL ALLIANCE -------------------------------- LETTERS! LETTERS! Folks, it's time to get those comment letters finished up for the new Makah whaling environmental assessment! Rather than fill this e-mail with tips and ideas on how to craft YOUR letter, we wish to share with you OUR comment letter, which we have just completed and posted at www.safepassing.org You can either read it as a web page or download it as a Word document. According to NMFS, all comment letters must be POSTMARKED by January 15, 2002. That means you have about two days left to get those letters sent off! Judging from your e-mails, many of you are just not sure what to write or how to say it. Don't worry- you're not alone! Please don't think your letter needs to be as long as ours, and don't get the notion that we're bragging on our letter. We're not! But posting it to the web will give you the opportunity to take the points and ideas that you consider important and incorporate them into your OWN letter. Now.... get to work! Your letter is very important, and we hope each and every one of you manages to submit comments. But time's wasting, and we all have less than two days to get those letters into the mail! Remember, if you have any questions or problems, please contact us anytime. Unlike NMFS, we're here to help! ***** UPDATE ON LAWSUIT ----------------- Many media outlets covered the news of the new lawsuit. Speaking of which, we all need to clear the term " Metcalf v. Daley " from our minds and replace it with " Anderson v. Evans, " which is how the new suit will be identified... We will continue to bring you any breaking news or items of interest concerning the suit, but considering the U.S. government now has sixty days to respond, it may take a little while. Hang in there, keep the faith, and we'll keep you posted! *****
