House of the United States Congress.

 

ON October 4th, 2001, it was an important day for billions of animals.

Four important animal protection amendments to the Farm Bill (HR 2646)

passed in the US House. However, it is not out the woods yet.

It has not become the " law " . We must continue the efforts.

URGE USDA & PRESIDENT BUSH TO ENFORCE THE HUMANE

SLAUGHTER ACT. : Please place your Name, Address at the Beginning

Dear Honorable Secretary Ann Veneman,

 

As U.S. concerned citizens and voters, I'm requesting you :

Please enforce the Humane Slaughter Act in every slaughterhouse

to stop dismembering and skinning millions of animals every year

while they are fully conscious in " excruciating pain " and " shock " .

We urge you please stop promoting and shielding the cruel

and polluting meat and dairy industries who torture and kill millions of

animals every year with massive cruelty and no compassion.

 

We welcome and support the long overdue Amendments on Humane

Slaughter Act which just passed in the US Senate and US House.

The amendment calls upon the USDA to strongly enforce the Humane

Slaughter Act(HSA) of 1958, which requires that animals be rendered

completely insensible to pain before they are slaughtered.

 

Humane Slaughter Act (HSA) is totally not being enforced by the

USDA . Every year , there are Ten Billions of animals are killed for

" Food " in the US. Animals are as " Sentient " as humans.

However, a fifteen-year investigation of the nation's slaughterhouses had

revealed that extreme animal cruelty has become so common at nearly

all of the U.S. meat processing plants.

 

As concerned citizens and voters , we urgently request you to

support the Congress newly passed Amendments to strengthen the

enforcement of the Federal Humane Slaughter Act which passed

long ago in 1958. Plus, equally important , we request you to :

 

1: Please frequently perform the most important and absolute confidential

" Un-Announced " Audits on all major slaughtering plants nationwide.

 

2: Please regulate the meat industry to greatly reduce the " killing

speed "

down to no more than 50 cattle per hour . Because there is no way

to be " Humane " while killing 300 cattle per hour on the extremely

fast " Killing Line " . (see Reference # 1 )

 

3: Please include the killing of nation's Nine billions of poultry

animals

every year for " food " in the " Humane Slaughter Act " too.

Poultry animals are " sentient " . They feel " pain " , and " shock " too

when their throats are slit with knifes.

 

4: Please stop the dairy industry's ruthless killing of millions of new

born male calves each year in order to steal the mother cows " milk "

to sell for bloody " profits " . Many of the calves simply clubbed to

death or live burying. (Please see Reference # 3)

 

5: Please overhaul the USDA Meat Inspection Department and prohibit

USDA officers to be hired in any way for the meat/dairy industry

after they leave the USDA due to existing severe " conflict interests " .

We also request the establishment of new regulations outlined by

the late Congressman George E. Brown, JR. who wrote to USDA in

March, 1998 that USDA regulate and demand all of the major slaughtering

plants to have two permanent inspection stations to be staffed full time

by qualified inspectors in the areas of unloading dock/pens and another

in the stunning and bleeding area. It is also necessary that a mechanism

be put in place to ensure that all plant STUNNING EQUIPMENT

IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER and that increased emphasis be

placed on humane slaughter enforcement both during inspector training

and at plant, district, and headquarters levels.

 

Animal sources " foods " devastated our National health :

Each year, nearly 1.4 million, or 54%, of all U.S. deaths are attributed

to diseases for which consumption of animal products(meat and dairy)

represents a substantial risk factor. The most popular, deadly western

diseases are Heart Diseases, Cancers, Diabetes, Strokes which are

mainly derived from long term consumption of high saturated fat and high

cholesterol animal sources foods. (see Reference #11, 12 , 13, 14, 15)

 

While the nation mourns the unspeakable tragedy in the World

Trade Center, however, the cruelty to raise Ten billions of " sentient "

animals every year for " food " in USA(plus " exporting " ) is equally

tragic, horrified and often hide by the meat industry and US Government.

In so called " animal agriculture " , institutionalized massive animal

cruelty which skins and dismembers millions of animals routinely

every day for " food " while they are fully conscious is a common

scene in more than six thousands of slaughterhouses across the

United States. The Humane Slaughter Act (HSA) currently is merely

an empty " paper " to shield the very cruel meat and dairy industry.

The honorable veteran U.S. Senator Byrd stated that animals :

" ...suffer pain just as we humans suffer pain. Federal law is being

ignored. Animal cruelty abounds. It is sickening. It is infuriating.

Barbaric treatment of helpless, defenseless creatures must not be

tolerated even if these animals are being raised for food--and even

more so, more so. Such insensitivity is insidious and can spread and

is dangerous. Life must be respected and dealt with humanely in a

civilized society. " (Please see Reference # 6 )

 

We urge you please stop helping and shielding the meat and dairy

industries. Please stop the everyday's unspeakable tragedy in all of

the slaughterhouses. Please enforce the Humane Slaughter Act in

every slaughterhouse. Thank you.

deserves a huge round of applause. He sat patiently waiting for

URGE BURGER KING TO OFFER VEGETARIAN BURGER IN U.S.

In the hope it will " earn back some loyalty, " Burger King Corporation has

announced plans to offer a vegetarian burger through its U.S. outlets. A

spokesperson said that customers had been requesting the product for some

time, and that the company has been " very, very seriously " exploring a

meat-free product for the past 3 months, both domestically and

internationally. The ingredients have not yet been disclosed, and

" supply-chain issues " are a concern. Burger King does not expect the

product to be an overnight success.

However, the company is believed to have been under pressure from

its parent company, British-based Diageo PLC, to improve sales and

earnings.
