URGENT, SANCTION JAPAN WHALING NOW. (6/27/2001)

 

 

Dear Caring friends,

 

The Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi is visiting President Bush on

June 30th. About a month ago, the former President Bush of the

United States Pays Courtesy Call on Prime Minister's Official Residence.

With all these politically extreme " friendly " gesture each other,

we have to wonder how much weight the whaling issue is on

US-Japan relation ? Just not long ago, the State Department made

strong opposition on Japan whaling and the possible sanction .

 

We urge all of the concerned groups and individuals to wage

protests if you can against Japanese Prime Minister while his visiting

here in Washington D.C.

 

Today, let's write an important letter to President Bush and his

cabinet as well as the Congress. Please also CALL White House

if you can as much as possible.

Dear Mr. President ,

 

While the Japanese Prime Minister is coming to visit , please don't

forget the Japanese whaling ships are sadistically slaughtering the great

whales in the Northwest Pacific right now. They are killing Sperm

whales, Bryde's whales and Minke whales , all of them are endangered

in the CITES Appendix I. The sea is filled with blood.

 

As very concerned U.S. voters, we strongly request you to impose the

major TRADE SANCTIONS against Japan on its massive killing

of whales urgently.

 

Eighty Three Percent (83 % ) of U.S. voters are strongly opposed to

commercial whaling by Japan and Norway and want the U.S. government

to take action, say results of a new poll carried out by noted Republican

pollster Fred Steeper of Market Strategies, Inc. on behalf of the

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) , released on June 26.

Bi-Partisan Members of US Congress just introduced Anti-Whaling

Resolution on Eve of First-Ever Bush/Koizumi Meeting now .

Congressional Representatives George Miller (D-CA), Chris Smith

(R-NJ), and Bill Delahunt (D-MA), which calls for tough action

against Japan and Norway for their continued cruel killing of whales.

 

On May 14, 2001, the US STATE Department spokesman

Richard Boucher condemned Japan's killing of whales in the excuse

of " scientific " whaling. Boucher said that if Japan does indeed take

Bryde's or sperm whales, the State Department would look into the

possibility of using the Pelly Amendment to impose trade sanctions.

We thank you for the statements. However, we must point out that

whales are being killed, and still there have been no sanctions at all .

 

Without imposing the sanction on Japan, Japanese government is killing

whales without limit . On June 19, 2001, Japanese Government made

a further decision to allow the whales entangled in set fishing nets to

be killed and sold commercially. Since 1990 the sale of meat from

accidentally caught whales has been banned but the Japanese Government

will lift this ban next month(July, 2001) ! The lifting of the ban, is

likely to provide yet another smoke screen for the illegal capture of

whales. The Government of Japan is showing to the world again that

they are completely despising and contemptuous of Bush Administration's

previous serious warning on its illegal whaling activities!

Japanese Prime Minister visiting US is right after its Foreign Minister

Makiko Tanaka visiting the State Department on June 16-18, 2001.

Also it comes less than one month prior to the upcoming International

Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting in London July 23-27, where the

Revised Management Scheme(RMS) is going to be voted on to allow

the initial resumption of World Commercial Whaling .

 

Ever since the International Whaling Commission's moratorium on whaling

went into effect in 1986, the pro-whaling nations of Japan and Norway

have been trying to overturn it. More than 20,000 whales have been

killed since the world agreed to stop whaling. This year, Japan had

already killed 600 whales. Both countries are killing more than 1000

whales each year. Let's ask how many " thousands " of whales can be

killed in the world of fragile oceans ? (see Reference # 2 )

 

Japan uses dirty bribing and threatening tactics to push other small

island countries to vote in Japan's favor in IWC meeting towards

resumption of World Commercial Whaling goal.

Japanese Government has been historically cruel to all living beings.

Its barbaric, sadistic whaling behavior has reminded us the Japanese

invasion of the World War II only 60 some years ago. Japanese soldiers

were raping, killing, looting in many of the Asian countries,especially

Chinese " civilians " who were regarded as " sub-human species " .

For example: Japan killed more than " 32 Millions " of Chinese " Civilians "

from 1931 till 1945 with the most unimaginable cruel ways to kill.

It was Chiang Kai-Shek and his weak National Party (Kaomingdon)

in power then. Unlike Germany, Japanese government denied its biggest

human atrocity to millions of Chinese civilians! Please double click

The U.S. is Japanese biggest exporting country. U.S. Dollars have been

flowing to Japan one sided year after year ! The Japanese government

uses dollars to build its modern advanced whaling factory ships to kill

whales ruthlessly. In other words, the Government of the United States

is backing the Japanese government to engage in its cruel whaling

activities behind if US continues to let Japan kill whales without

serious TRADE SANCTIONS !

 

Please, we must block Japanese imports or we are no different from

the whales killers.

 

PLEASE IMPOSE TRADE SANCTIONS AGAINST JAPAN NOW.
