Corporate-owned factories where cows are warehoused in huge sheds

and treated like milk machines have replaced most small family farms.

With GENETIC manipulation and intensive production technologies,

it is common for modern dairy cows to produce 100 pounds of milk a

day--10 times more than they would produce in nature. To keep milk

production as high as possible, farmers artificially inseminate cows

every year. Growth hormones and unnatural milking schedules cause

dairy cows' udders to become painful and so heavy that many of them

drag on the ground, resulting in frequent infections and overuse of

antibiotics. Cows -- like all mammals -- make milk to feed their own

babies --not humans.

" I realized there's even more suffering in a glass of MILK than in a

pound of Meat. " says Dr. Francione, Law Professor at Rutgers University.

 

Few people realize cows have to be subjected to pregnancy every year

so that MILK, CHEESE, BUTTER, ICE CREAM may be produced.

In order to continue producing high volume milk as much as possible,

in the modern commercial dairy factory farms cows are constantly kept

pregnant. Their babies are forcefully dragged away within 1 to 2 days

of birth, so that milk can be sold and humans can drink MILK intended

for the calves. Giving birth is a prolonged and painful business for

the cow, to be rewarded only by separation from her baby.

Cows often cry out and search for their calves for days after

their babies are taken away.

Male calves are sold to feed lots and put into tiny veal crates,

fatten and chained to endure 16 weeks of hell in the dark, confined to

stalls so small they can not even make a turn, then slaughtered and sold

as 'VEAL' , " Beef " , " Hamburger " or " Pet Food " ........

 

Many of the male calves are simply " buried " alive !.

As one of the Dairy farm worker Paula J. said ,

" I eat beef, I drink milk. I also worked on a dairy farm when

I was young. I remember running the backhoe to bury 10s to 100s of

bull calves dumped in the pit, some dead - some not. This is a

practice. Whether you do it or not. It is a practice to kill the male

calves very early on Dairy farms. " . (Paula J. had worked for a large

dairy farm " Heimadingers " , outside of Clinton, Michigan.)

 

Female calves follow in their mother's hoofprints, slaughtered when

their milk production wanes, usually before their 4th birthday to become

hamburger or pet food. Normal healthy cows can live up to 26 years old.

The DAIRY industry is inseparable from the cruel exploitation and

degradation of helpless, highly intelligent animals.

are sold for $0.50 to $8 per live calf. Their umbilical cord are still

attached. They suckle humans hands like puppies. Many people cried .)

DAIRY AND BEEF GOES HAND IN HAND. The following are only

some of million cases every year regarding the cruelty of the

industries. Here is an account of Calf slaughter( By-products of milk) :

 

" To get done with them faster, we'd put eight or nine of them in the

knocking box at a time...You start shooting, the calves are jumping,

they're all piling up on top of each other. You don't know which ones

got shot and which didn't.... They're hung anyway, and down the line

they go, wriggling and yelling " (to be slaughtered while fully

" When a conscious cow arrives at the first hind-legger hanging

upside down , usually the legger tries to make a cut to start skinning

out the leg. Unfortunately, it is very difficult and dangerous to do

that when an animal is kicking violently. So the legger will cut off

the bottom part of the animal's leg he's working on with a pair of

Female calves often replace their old, worn-out mothers, or are

slaughtered soon after birth for the rennet in their stomachs (an

ingredient of most commercial cheeses). They are often kept in tiny

crates or tethered in stalls for the first few months of their lives,

only to grow up to become " milk machines " like their mothers.

 

The dairy industry abandons live cows at stockyards when they are no

longer " profitable " and drags cows to slaughter with chains when they

can still be sold for human consumption. The male offspring of dairy

cows are often considered " useless " that they are discarded, often

alive, on dairy farms or clubbed to death with canes.

" Dragging cattle with a chain and forklift is standard practice at

the plant, " explained a long-term inspector at a large beef operation in

Nebraska. " And that's even after the forklift operator rolled over and

crushed the head of one downer while dragging another. " .

" [T]hey'll go through the skinning process alive. I saw that myself,

a bunch of times. I've found them alive clear over to the rump stand. " .

" And that happens in every plant. I've worked in four large ones and a

bunch of small ones. They're all the same. " .

" [E]verybody gets so used to it that it doesn't mean anything. " .

" [W]orkers drag cripples with a garden tractor and a chain . "

Former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman conceded on

Feb 11, 1999 in an interview with C-SPAN Washington Journal

that the ENFORCEMENT of the Humane Slaughter Act is almost

NON-EXISTENT !

 

As far as the health aspects of Cow's milk , there are many research

reports stated that Cow's milk is linked to Breast Cancer, Prostate

Cancer, Juvenile Onset Diabetes, Overian Cancer, even Osteoporosis.

The selling of so saturated cow's milk products including

has been pushing dairy and meat industries to torture and kill

millions of innocent and sentient dairy cows and their babies

every year just in the United States alone !

 

Millions of human babies drink cow's milk to grow up.

In other words, Dairy cows are indeed the foster mothers for millions

of human babies. It ends up those grown up human babies bloodily

killing all of their foster mothers--the dairy cows !

 

Dear caring friend, with your help, millions of mother

cows and calves will avoid to continue to suffer and to be killed .

 

Please use your power and talent to urge all of the companies to

promote healthy and ethical food and drinks, for example :

Soy milk, Fruit juices, Rice milk, Almond milk..., instead of promoting

unhealthy animal sources food and drinks which is simply an

" animal cruelty " issue behind.

 

This Mother's Day, let's remember the dairy cows and their

unfortunate calves, and let's pledge together to outlaw the

cruel practice of raising veal in the U.S. Please help to ban the
