After the broadcast,the ASPCA's offices were inundated with phone calls and mail. "Eachperson who wrote was furious with the show for such a blatant display ofdisrespect toward the animals," says Valerie K. Angeli, ASPCA PublicInformation Director, "and we also feel very strongly that the treatmentof animals in the skit was irresponsible, insulting and in very poorjudgment." SNL added further insult to injury by showing a cartoondepicting humor in people having sex with animals.I believe SNL owes the viewers, who were unfortunate enough to tune inthat night, an apology.
