Although this petition goes way back to August, I have only now gotten email

address for the Ministry of Defence (see below). I think for those of us not

yet exposed to the below information should still voice our outrage. This is

disgusting, has to be one of the most horrific messages I have ever read.

Dear Dr. Sneh,

 

I am extremely upset to learn that the Israeli Defense

Forces (IDF) have declared war on the animals. I

understand that not only have dogs been used in

cruel and outdated Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

training exercises, live pigs have also been subjected

to barbaric explosives experiments.

 

According to an article in the March 17 issue of Ha'

aretz, live pigs were bound, placed in trailers, and

blown up with explosives comparable to those used

in Scud missiles. An Israeli soldier described what he

saw: " When we opened the [trailer] door, we had to

turn our heads away. The pigs were lying there, crying

 

and squealing. It was obvious that the blast wave had

blown them up internally and that the glass that flew

in all directions from the shattered windows had

cut them on the outside. The walls were covered in the

blood, urine, and feces of the bound pigs. They looked

at us with wide, beseeching eyes that were filled

with horror. " The animals were reportedly photographed

and then taken, " screeching and bloodied, " to an

unnamed institute for further study.

 

I know that the IDF is tragically familiar with the

effects that explosives have on the human body, and

there is no excuse for subjecting innocent animals to

the horrifying and immoral experiments described in

the pages of Ha' aretz. In addition, medical

literature from around the world is filled with

countless of explosives. If the IDF insists on

conducting explosives experiments, I would

ask that it use soft soap blocks and other substances

specifically designed to simulate human tissue, both

of which have been widely used in wound experiments

in Europe and America. Please stop this torture of

innocent creatures immediately. Such cruelty cannot

be tolerated by civilized society.

matter. I am looking forward to your reply.
