Dear Sir or Madam:

 

I am writing in reference to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (FWS) plan

to severely weaken protection of the gray wolf under the Endangered Species

Act (ESA). FWS has proposed to downgrade the gray wolf from the

" endangered " to the " threatened " list in Wisconsin and Michigan, and to

completely remove gray wolves from protection in a significant portion of

the U.S.

 

The suggested proposals do not adequately promote alternatives such as

non-lethal management, preventive efforts, or responsible husbandry for

farmers; make biological diversity or science a keystone for decision

malting; uphold the intention of the ESA not only to recover species but to

sustain that population for future generations.

 

I urge you to do everything in your power to protect and preserve the

wolves. Please stop this senseless attack on one of earth's most beautiful

and intelligent creatures.
