Guest guest
SOURCE: Mini-Pigs, Inc. http://www.minipigs.org BACKGROUND: There is an act known as Robinson's Racing Pigs in which pigs are forced to run around a track for entertainment value. The final race features morbidly obese potbellied pigs who were obviously overfed to add to the " comic " value of the act. SAMPLE LETTER: Add your NAME & ADDRESS (Change a FEW WORDS) and forward widely! ============================================================= TO: acfair RE: " Robinson's Racing Pigs " at Arlington County Fair, Texas I urge you to NOT feature this act again when you book your acts for next years fair. PIGS ARE THE 3RD MOST INTELLIGENT MAMMAL, AFTER THE GREAT APES AND WHALES/DOLPHINS; AND HAVE A VERY FINELY-DEVELOPED PSYCHOLOGY AND EMOTIONAL SYSTEM. The pigs are stressed by the environment and the noise of the crowd. People have been seen throwing objects at the pigs to get them to run faster. The potbellies, who have been purposely overfed to the point of obesity, are particularly tragic since they are barely able to walk. These pigs are often raced in hot and humid conditions and kept in substandard conditions. They are often forced to perform numerous times each day during the fair's run. By featuring this act as part of your fair, you are contributing to the inhumane treatment of animals and endorsing animal abuse.
