There is GRAVE concern that with the apparent news blackout, the Makah

whalers will skip the harpoons and canoes (which is mostly towed by the

gunboats) and go straight to shooting at the resident whales instead with

anti-tank weapons. They did shoot at whales last May when no media was

present.

 

We need to encourage the Seattle media and cable news to cover this event

live so that we may lessen this risk to the resident whales,

many with newborns.

 

Please print out and retain these 800 numbers and, if possible, call

when they go out again which could be as soon as at dawn.

 

If you can follow up with an e-mail to the appropriate addresses

on this list it would also be of great help.

 

Other Seattle TV stations and cable NCN (which carried only old footage when

they last hunted) phone numbers will be provided ASAP.
